Surge Suppression

 

Notice: CVEC has discontinued installation of new surge suppression equipment but will continue to maintain the existing equipment installed at the homes of our members.

 

Concerned about potential damage from lightning?

CVEC offers a two stage surge suppression program that will protect household appliances and electronic equipment. All for $5.88 per month included on your CVEC electric bill with a 3 year use agreement. When the surge equipment senses an over voltage event, it will clamp and divert the voltage to ground providing ongoing protection.

What does it include?

Installing a Surge Suppressor
This two stage protection program includes the free installation of the meter collar and the delivery of 4 plug-in electronic surge suppressors. Each device includes a manufacturer's repair or replacement warranty  (PDF Document 104 KB) for damaged equipment up to $1500 per item and $25,000 per incident if the excess voltage overpowers and passes through the protective device.

Quick Info:

Cost: $5.88 / month

Minimum Contract: 36 months; if removed prior to 36 months, balance of contract will be billed.

Meter Collars Warranty: $25,000 per incident / $1500 per item

Electronic Surge Warranty: $25,000 per incident / $1500 per item
  • There is no installation fee
  • We will install the collar and leave the plug-in protectors
  • 4 wall-mount, plug-in devices (or plug-in strips) featuring:
    • six "swiveling" ac outlets
    • Telephone outlets
    • Coaxial outlets (cable or satellite television)
  • Manufacturer provided warranty
  • Surge device must fail manufacturer testing after a surge event in order to qualify for the manufacturer's connected equipment warranty.
